NYE

so, another year has gone, I vaguely remember thinking to myself that 2010 was going to be amazing, but it hasn't but thats no ones fault but mine( studying full time and not being employed ha ha). So hopefully this coming year will be alot better!!

so my resolutions are

* Get a job = Money = social life
*Replace pretty much all the clothes in my wardrobe
*get more into animal welfare
*buy a cheap but cool car so i can reliably go places
*Volunteer at animal shelters/rescues (requires the above)
*Seriously consider moving to south east Queensland

hope you're al doing fun things for NYE, I'm at home with a monster headache watching Pride and Prejudice. I've also made my ratties a little haven on the couch where they are currently munching on vitawheats and lettuce awaiting the fireworks on tv.

skinny

Whoa look at these! I stumbled across these pair of "jeans",  I'd call them more like "I can't sit down or the worlds gravity will be displaced due to the immense force caused by the ripping of my pants" or something of that fashion

i've never seen someone with legs like that, and if I did, I'd be VERY worried. I don't mean to offend anyone out there who is naturally skinny skinny, but I think it's a bit extreme and negative for sass and bide to come out with a pair of pants so skinny, promoting this type of skinny as cool, after all S&B are pretty trend setting, I love their stuff.

fringe festival

I can't justify paying for a whole "style cut" just to get a fringe, seems like such a waste of money, so i hacked it off myself. It's just a shame its annoying having fringe half the time, I wake up with it pointing skywards.

Blackheath

Went up the mountains (something we seem to do once a year). It was a balmy 7 degrees! so cold. We drove around to different vantage points but they were so packed with tourists we just kept driving and found this place, completely desserted!

Being in Katoomba is like being stuck in a art deco 1950s town, in England, grey clouds, red brick buildings. If you ever go up the mountains make sure you go to Leura, so much more artisan and pretty!

2011, what?!

Christmas is over, again!

Everyone's lights will be coming down, which is a bit sad.

time for some resolutions? long and short term!

◆ Start working again = get my social life back
◆Get the kind of body I should look back on in ten years and thing "ooh I looked good"
◆stop caring about silly things
◆Be less sensible
◆Move to Qld
◆Make friends
◆Be creative and not feel bad about it.

I've been in my comfort zone too long.

Glen coco.

I have to admit something...

I hate christmas songs, christmas movies and tv shows. I probably wouldn't if it weren't for reruns of National lampoon every year and hearing Hilary Duff covers of xmas carols when I worked in retail. and  has anyone noticed alot of cars with antlers and red noses?!

But, I do love:

★ Our christmas is spent in the pool or inside because it's too hot, falling asleep on the couch because we ate too much.
★fairy lights (this love extends way beyond christmas)
★finding something nice to wear to christmas lunch
★Champagne! Champagne! Champagne

on another note, I'm sick of cooking, I want to eat something other than dahl, seems to be all i make. Im trying to figure out something to make for chrissy lunch as it'll be all meats, cheesy bakes and roasted potatoes (roasted along side meat), so as annoyed as it feels I'm pretty much bringing every course for myself!

so far I'm thinking:

● A balsamic salad w/ semi dried tomatos, grilled zhuccini, sweet potato and caramelized onion.
●Beetroot, asparagus, sundried tomato and cashew cous cous
●Raw strawberry "cheese"cake
●Potatoes w/ mushroom sauce... because potatoes are the best.

i love weddings.

and... I love weddings in great locations. The reception was in Cockle Bay and there was a huge christmas fireworks display, how perfect!

little birdy

I feel so bad for this little birdy.

I found a juvenile Starling out the front being attacked by crows, I don't think there was anything wrong with the bird apart from It's inability to defend itself. It couldn't fly for some reason, nothing felt broken.

I took it into the vet where I was greeted by a vet nurse who didn't seem to care (left me feeling a bit annoyed! When I'm a vet nurse I hope i never get like that.).  I know Starlings are pests in WA but I wonder if the vet is just going to put it down because it's not native.

Starlings are pretty.

footsies

I have a habit of when i'm travelling i take photos of my point of you, showing my legs and feet etc, I suppose it's like photographic proof of where i've gone, not  just anyone's photos, MY feet have gone there. This is especially the case when I holiday solo!

does anyone else do this?

1. Rangitoto, NZ
2. Wellington, NZ
3.  Lake Mackenzie, Fraser Island, Qld
4. Wreck Bay, NSW
 5. Sitting under Urangan Pier, Hervey Bay, Qld
6. Sunset Beach, Hawaii

Kelsey Genna

much love monday: not shopping at westfield.

Yesterday I went to Westfield to look for a summer dress, and all i left was a cheap pair of shoes. It's probably a good thing I don't like shopping at places like Sportsgirl and General Pants as alot of the stuff is over priced anyway, but I have a hard time finding things that look good on my "curvaceous" figure.

and today i did the rounds of all the op shops here and found heaaaaps, fabrics for making dresses, lots of vintage zippers in cute colours for mega cheap, acid wash denim for purses, new belts, new bag, shirts, i'm so in love with the shirt in the first pic, such cute shoulders!!

so much more satisfying. I think i'll just op shop and make my own dresses from now on ha ha.

70s reclaimed fabrics make me happy. so does the colour mustard.

This is what I think of spotlight

Spotlight have a hopeless selection of fabric that barely goes outside the realm of silk, crisp cotton, fleece and calico. I realllly want to finish this dress i'm making but nowhere seems to stock soft drapey cotton (really common in commercial dressed.. so why so hard to stock it?)

there is only one other fabric store around here (because spotlight made it too hard for the others that used to exist them survive) which is "foreign owned"and full of cheap toddler dance costume material and other gross stuff.... they don't even know what jersey is.

I really want to finish making my dress but there is no way in hell i'm going to use jersey or crisp cotton!!!!!!

That's my gripe for today

graduate

I love productive mornings! started making a new dress this morning, i could be finished by now but I don't have the right fabric, but so far the bustier and middle section is done and made out of some 1970s cotton i found at vinnies a long time ago. I'm so in love with the print uugh!

since then i've been kind of bored, made a cushion, took some random photo to keep me entertained.

P.S It's our Graduate Exhibition tonight! I'm not really excited, I feel rather anti social, I bet I won't be there for long ha ha!
